The invention of eyewear

The Middle Ages lasted a thousand years and saw the birth of many objects that we still use today: it is said that it was a monk who, at the end of the thirteenth century, invented the first spectacles by joining two convex lenses and placing them on the nose.

This invention greatly improved the lives of those who could finally see objects and letters magnified.

Lenses for nearsightedness had to wait until the fifteenth century, and a model of glasses that didn’t need to be held by the hands, but were self-supporting with side arms, had to wait until the eighteenth century.

At first they thought of a hat with strings or a leather headband to hold the lenses.

As you can see, it takes a lot of imagination to turn an idea into reality.
