The Etruscans, the coolest people of antiquity

While it is true that the dress does not make the man, it is also true that fashion is always a reflection of society and tells us so much about the identity and mentality of a people.
The Etruscans astonished and still surprise us today with their originality, elegance and flair in dress: they wore colorful, meticulously detailed clothes with rounded-cut cloaks and pointed shoes. Women loved to style their hair, wearing linen tunics embroidered with gold thread. They had special attention to body care: pomates and perfumes but also combs, mirrors, bracelets, rings, and brooches have been found in various grave goods.
We could say that their look was famous even beyond their borders; their fashion was famous among the Romans who said “Etruscan style dress”
Compared to the Greeks and Romans, the Etruscans loved to enjoy life, parties, and banquets, which is why they were criticized by neighboring peoples.
Fashion within Etruscan civilization went beyond a sense of aesthetics: comfortable and in some cases unisex clothing, such as togas and ankle boots, revealed emancipated women who could participate in public life, banquets and could own businesses.
Not only that, taste in dress was across all levels of society.
Over time, Etruscan clothing also won over the Romans, who used tunics and togas.
In modern times, the Etruscan look has not ceased to inspire designers and fashion houses such as Gucci, Gattinoni, and Custo, who have created collections looking at that extravagant people from two thousand seven hundred years ago.
